The 2027 Explorer ST Has a Sinister Side

Pristine White paint makes Ford's new Sinister Package impossible to miss on this 400 horsepower Explorer ST AWD.

WHITE PAINT MAKES THE DARK DETAILS LOUDER.

Sinister might sound like a package made only for black paint, but this Pristine White Explorer ST makes the idea easier to read. The black grille, dark ST badging, roofline details and gloss black wheels stand apart from the body instead of disappearing into it. Even before the engine starts, the contrast gives Ford's three row performance SUV a cleaner and more deliberate stance.

“The white paint does not soften the Sinister Package. It gives every black detail and amber light a brighter stage.”

FORD TOOK ITS CUES FROM THE ST COMMUNITY.

Ford describes the Sinister Package as a response to the owners who were already adding gloss black wheels, dark trim and subtle lighting changes to their Explorers. The factory package brings together dark accented ST badging, amber running lights and exclusive 21 inch gloss black wheels. It is an appearance package, but the origin matters: Ford says the enthusiast community helped define the look.

THE ST HARDWARE REMAINS THE FOUNDATION.

The 2027 Explorer ST uses a twin turbocharged 3.0 liter EcoBoost V6 with 415 pound feet of torque and up to 400 horsepower, paired with a 10 speed automatic. This example is equipped with intelligent four wheel drive. A sport tuned suspension, paddle shifters and six selectable drive modes give the ST its performance identity while the Sinister Package concentrates on the visual side.

IT STILL HAS TO WORK AS AN EXPLORER.

The appeal is not only speed. Ford lists seating for six or seven, depending on configuration, with standard PowerFold third row seats. Maximum cargo space is 85.3 cubic feet, and the ST can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. That combination is why the Explorer ST has developed a community of its own: it can carry people and gear without giving up the character that makes an enthusiast look back after parking.

THE WALKAROUND SHOWS THE PACKAGE IN REAL LIGHT.

Official photographs can explain the equipment, but a parking lot walkaround shows how the package actually reads around other vehicles. The white body changes with the sun, the dark trim stays visually grounded and the amber front lighting gives the Sinister Package its clearest signature. This is not a road test. It is a close look at a new configuration before the first miles tell the rest of its story.
